Crazy Baseball Fans Living Out a Dream!

# 5 Globe Life Field Home of the Texas Rangers

May 1, 2024

We are not going to lie. We went to the Globe Life Field expecting not to like it. Much to our surprise we were impressed right from the start!

It is part of a complex of stadiums, AT&T and the old Rangers ballpark which is now known as Choctaw Stadium, which all share common parking areas. Needless to say, the parking is convenient but expensive. There are some bars and restaurants outside the park but we didn’t explore those as they were giving away free jerseys to the first 15,000 fans! You had the choice of a medium or large jersey which scored big points with us. The quality was also surprisingly good.

The concessions were great, maybe the best yet! There was a wide variety to choose from and there were several stands that sold $1 hotdogs. (Halfway through the game they told you how many hotdogs had been sold so far and showed fans enjoying them.) We also appreciated the fact that there were many places to sit or stand at a table to eat your food.

Some people cleaned and swept the entire game so obviously the park scores big on cleanliness.

The scoreboard was okay but EVERY time there were two strikes on the Mariners the board shows ‘Get Loud’ and annoying music takes over! Speaking of music, there was no organ music at all and the kinds of things that would normally be played on an organ were played with a bass guitar! Now add the fact that the roof was closed and the sound bounced off the rafters and it was loud and obnoxious in our opinion. (Confused? Check out our ‘Full Disclosure’ Page)

There were several things new to us here in Texas. One of them is people wearing baseball shirts and cowboy boots. We don’t see that in the Midwest. Of course, Texans probably don’t see baseball shirts and winter mittens at the same time either. Another thing that surprised us in the Cheerleaders. Some sports have cheerleaders from a grade school level on up to professional so it makes sense. Baseball is not that kind of sport and the cheerleaders weren’t necessary. (Now if you could get them to lead the 2 strikes cheering without the annoying music we could be convinced!)

The Guest Services for the Rangers did a good job of making us feel welcome. They answered our email promptly and even brought us a goodie bag during the game!

The scores for Globe Life Field are: Scoreboard 3, Concessions 5, Bathrooms 5, Parking 4, Neighborhood 3, Music 3 and Total Experience 5.
Out of a possible score of 35, Globe Life gets a 28 making it the highest-rated park so far.

It would have been nice to have experienced the dome open for the game. We left with two jerseys, a pennant, and a bobblehead. Best of all we had a great time. We encourage all baseball fans to make the journey to Arlington to catch a game!
